It looks like there are 9 eggs now.

Lookout and you may see the birds sitting on the nest.

Overnight the first few eggs have been laid. It looks like there are 4 now. More should be laid over the next few days. Normally they can lay between 8 to 12 eggs.

Its a new year, the birdbox has been replaced before last winter with a fresh new home-made one. The camera has been updated with night vision that can be turned on and off. The best news is that a pair of blue tits have already started to build a nest.

The tits have finally flown the nest. From the 10 eggs, 8 hatched and 3 survived to leave the nest. They’ve left the remains of the dead birds for me to clean out.

It seems that we’re down to 3 chicks after a number of them have died. They may have starved as they larger chicks appeared to be claiming all the food the parents were bringing in.

The dead chicks are too large for the parents to remove so are still in the nest box.

Hopefully the remaining chicks start to fledge in the next day or two.
